Hydrogen Breath Test
Hydrogen Breath Test H2 breath testing is a safe, simple method of testing for lactose malabsorption and bacterial overgrowth in patients who present with bloating, gas, nausea, cramps, or diarrhea.

Prior to your arrival, you will be given specific instructions and told to avoid dairy products, tobacco, chewing gum, strenuous exercise and to keep an empty stomach for 12 hours. Please advise our staff if you have taken antibiotics in the preceding two weeks. You will blow into an instrument and your breath will be analyzed for hydrogen gas. Then, you will drink a liquid and your breath will be tested every 30 minutes for three hours.

Occasionally, some patients will experience their usual abdominal discomfort related to lactose.
