Questions and Answers

  1. What are your office hours and phone number?
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Our phone number is 407-830-8661.

  2. Do I need a referral to be seen?
As we are gastroenterology specialists, you should check with your insurance carrier to find out if a referral from your primary care physician is necessary.

  3. Who should I ask for when calling the office?
We have an automated phone system. If you need an appointment, please call extensions 100 or 101. Since our phone system is automated, you will have an option to leave a voicemail message for the person/department you are trying to reach. Your voicemail messages will be returned as soon as possible. When leaving a voicemail message, please leave all pertinent information regarding your call including name, date of birth, reason for call and a phone number to reach you.

  4. What should I do if I need a refill on a prescription and I don’t have an office visit already scheduled?
Call our prescription line at ext. 200, and we will let you know if you need an office visit prior to having your medication refilled.  Please call us at least 1 week prior to needing a refill.

  5. Insurance Information
Digestive Disease Consultants and Palm Endoscopy Center are both participating providers for most Central Florida Insurance Plans. If you are unsure whether we participate in your particular plan, please call our office at 407-830-8661, ext 108, 104, or 170, and we will be glad to assist you.

For your safety it our policy that you have a responsible driver to drive you home after your procedure. No taxis are permitted.

  7. Can I schedule a colonoscopy without a physician evaluation?
No, so that we may properly evaluate your health you must be seen by a physician prior to having a colonoscopy.

  8. How long will my procedure take?
Your procedure should take approximately two hours total from time of admission until discharge.

  9. Will the procedure hurt?
With conscious sedation, patients typically do not feel discomfort during their procedure. After the procedure you may feel bloated or gassy.

  10. How long will I have to wait for the results of my procedure?
Typically it takes about 5-7 days for us to get back any biopsy results.

  11. What is your privacy policy?
Our policy is to protect your privacy to the best of our ability. With this in mind, we will speak only to you (the patient), unless you indicate in writing that there is someone else we may speak with. When returning a call from the office, please leave a cellphone or preferred contact number, as well as authorization to leave a more detailed message if you so desire.

  12. How do I get copies of my records?
Please call 407-830-8661 and follow the prompts to extension 118 to access Medical Records. Arrangements will be made for timely delivery by mail or fax, at a nominal fee in some cases.  Same day delivery of records is not possible.

If you find it necessary to cancel or not show up for a scheduled encounter and do not give at least 24 hours notice for an office visit or 72 hours (3 days) for a procedure, we will have to charge you a fee. For office visits, there is a $25 charge and for procedures the fee increases to $100.
